In the hospital In The Hospital

Kim was induced on May 14, 2007, and went into full labor the next day. Evan was unable to be born naturally, so after two full hours of pushing (not including the 16 hours of contractions prior to that), Kim was wheeled into the operating room for an unplanned C-section. Evan's head was so wedged into the pelvic opening that the doctor had to struggle a bit to pry him free. Despite all of this, Evan was fine except for a large hematoma on the back of his head. Kim's recovery was unusually quick, as well.

The First Month The First Month

These photos are more-or-less organized in chronological order. Notice how the facial swelling lessens and facial expressions increase as time passes. Evan spent most of the first month asleep and gave us very few problems. After a month, he started to wake up more often and we started to get less sleep. It's a good thing we have the summer off.

First Road Trip Evan's First Road Trip

Evan was just turning a month when he took his first road trip. Kim's grandfather wasn't doing well and she really wanted to make sure he saw Evan, so we made a trip up to Cleveland on short notice. Evan did beautifully on the trip, sleeping most of the way. However, his need to stop every 3 hours or so for a feeding turned the normally 11-hour trip into a 15-plus-hour drive. It was worth it, however, because Kim's grandfather passed away only a couple of days after we returned home.

The Most Recent Photos The Second Month

Evan turns 6 weeks old on Tuesday, June 26. These are the most recent photos we have of Little Man, so this is more or less what he looks like right now.
